At Music Education Systems, you will find innovative downloadable resources and complete teaching methods – mainly for School Music Teachers, but also for Conservatoriums, Universities and Teacher Training Courses.

We originally founded Fiddlin’ Phil Productions at the start of 2008 and published a range of student music books and teaching methods, featuring first and foremost the “Fiddlin’ Phil Strings Method” now successfully used across a range of elementary and secondary schools as a class method in Australia – NSW, Victoria and Western Australia.

As a classroom teacher, musician and Head of Music for over 20 years, I felt a need for innovative teaching methods with use of multimedia that MOTIVATES and engages students. These resources have been developed with over 20 years of experience in both the music classroom and instrumental lessons. The innovation occurs in the quality of the instruction and providing teaching methods that work individually as well as meeting outcomes in various syllabi – including activities across the 3 learning areas of PERFORMING, COMPOSING (organizing sounds) and LISTENING & UNDERSTANDING.

Also, when you have up to 30 students in a class (though you can teach in groups of 5 or 6 or individually) you may find students that have been learning cello or violin previously with another teacher – these students need to be extended and engaged. On the other hand, you may find students with little or no experience of playing a musical instrument and they need to receive quality instruction and easily achievable goals. Our “Fiddlin’ Phil Strings Method” provides this differentiated learning and we believe that NO child should feel they have failed in their music making.

First of all with the Motivational Guitar Method – a comprehensive class guitar method with music and activities for beginners and experienced players – instructional video to support class teachers with little guitar experience and activities and worksheets across the 3 learning areas of composing, performing and listening & understanding.

The Online ‘Motivational’ Guitar Method – NOW AVAILABLE as a complete class teaching program consists of 8 class units with PDFs of music and worksheets for students, MP3s and our online instructional video PLUS our Teachers Kit with teaching programs (as a Word Document so you can adapt to your Syllabus) composition/arranging and theory worksheets and lesson plans.

Individual students can use these books with the backing CD and/or schools can purchase the quartet pack or even the string ensemble pack. Each book has both solo and ensemble parts for flexible arrangements that give everyone a go. For your string orchestra, students can use the backing tracks at 3 different speeds at home, then come to rehearsal KNOWING their part.

This is a great resource for string teachers to motivate individual students, or it can be used as for duets, trios, folk bands with guitar, bas & drum-kit. Or even in the classroom for a class ensemble for the syllabus topic of "Music of Another Culture". We have even used it successfully with a combined schools string ensemble.
